Compulsive Eating Plan
March 24, 2008 |

It is of paramount importance to prepare everything that is needed before starting the program. Subsequently, plan the things that should be done during the program.
Before the Program
Plan #1. Read the book before you start.
Buy the produce you need. Buy a food processor, blender and juicer. Create some raw food recipes you enjoy. Make the 30 days a commitment before God. Spend time in prayer. Draw on the strength of faith.
Plan #2. Build your resolute decisions.
Find a friend who will do this along with you so you may support each other. Tell those who will be affected by your decision how much this matters to you, and ask them for their help and understanding.
During the Program
Plan #1. Read this chapter once per day.
Write out some points that you want to work on for that day. Constantly remind yourself of the reasons you are doing this. Remind yourself of what you have suffered by being a slave to food. Refuse to allow your mind to think negatively. Be intent on making each thought a positive one. Refuse to put yourself down. Always build and encourage. Ponder, pray, read, study and invest energy; the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.
Plan #2. Get focused in the morning, especially with prayer.
The first thing to do while getting out of bed is to do some exercise to get the blood moving. This works faster than coffee. Take a shower and at the end, run the water cool or cold. As you face the discomfort of the cold water, strengthen your mental stance for the day: “I refuse to eat donuts. I refuse to drink coffee. I refuse to be negative. I refuse to worry. I refuse to be lazy. This is going to be a great day.” Start a journal to keep you objective in seeing your accomplishment and failures.
Plan #3. Try to feed your mind with positive input.
Choose educational programming on television. Cut down on reading newspapers. Much of it can be negative. Cut down socializing with negative people. Don’t read horror novels. Develop a workout routine. Go for relaxing walks to be at peace and encourage yourself. Spend quiet time outside or alone where you can be at peace with God.
Plan #4. Cut out the negative influences on your thinking.
You need to strive at being active in your thinking process to work at fighting negative thoughts. This will take time.

you have got to be kidding. this is the same as a diet, or even worse. this will only lead into MORE bingeing and more compulsive overeating because of the obsessive control factor. while i believe exercise IS essential, the abstaining of every behavior that is pleasurable is ridiculous, as is the overzealous religious aspect. you don’t need a food processor or a juicer to get help with compulsive eating, and any person who is trying to convince you of such is just another diet scam-artist.

it is true about the raw food diet. Learning to abstain from compulsive eating is (`1) realizing that you are powerless and can’t do it alone (2) making abstinence your priority along with spiritually enhancing and strengthening your mind and program and (3) making a food plan that you can live with. Most eating disorders institutes and organizations and programs follow 12 steps and no sugar or white flour as these are triggers,. alongwith suggesting that the individual make a list of his/her binge foods == you also have to change your entire way of doing things — i.e., grocery shopping (not going down aisles that will trigger you) — not going to buffet restaurants; sticking to your guns when your in a group and having the courage to say…”no thanks for asking but I can’t do that” with no further explanation required. I have gained and lost over 1200 lbs. in my life — yes 1200 lbs. !!! I can’t tell you what I’ve lost physically and spiritually and emotionally because of this goddamned disease/illness. I still try to diet and I fall flat on my face within 10 minutes. Certain binge foods that I tried to convince myself that I could “train my thinking” into being able to eat these foods has consistently made a jackass and fool out of me. Staying made at God for making me this way and having to beg him for help didn’t do any good either soooooooo — yes, you don’t need a juicer; yes, you don’t need to try another diet but the food is important. Diets do work — when adhered to diets do work! It’s the long haul that doesn’t work — until a person who is a compulsive eater has had their last binge and has accepted that in no uncertain terms can he ever eat normally, he will never succeed. Somehow I was able to lose 310 lbs. and keep it off 5.5 years — I gained half back and have maintained a weight loss/weight gain for 13 years — I can’t seem to surrender again and I can’t seem to adjust to the 12 steps and way of living that requires us to adhere to in order to be successful.

Have you ever tryed a fast?…There is allways a religeous factor in every day life, but yes more so on a water fast. You cannot down something that you know nothing about, but hey you are entitled to your opinion Meg.
Best regards Keith.
